Get expressive

I want to get to know you and connect with you. I want to know what you're passionate about and how you express that passion (and excitement).

Over the years of working in the corporate world I was taught to drop the pitch of my voice, tone down my excitement, be professional, don't talk with my hands so much, make sure I represented the business in their way...yada yada

Through doing those things I lost some of the favourite parts of my personality, my joyful child like excitement and passion and some of my playful, fun rebellious streak too. I was toning myself down to be acceptable in the work environment and that spilled into my life.

Things are changing. There is a revolution that started in the world of social media that is spilling into the business world. Our clients and customers want to know who we are, what we stand for, what excites us and what we bring  to the table beyond the knowledge and skills. Are we someone they want to work with.

I'm a smart cookie and I know lots of stuff...and lots of random stuff. But that doesn't mean I'm for everyone nor is everyone for me. So how can a client know if you're for them if you don't share a little of the 'behind the scenes' of your business, of you.

Check out @mirandaiveymedia she roller skates in a sparkly jacket using a banana as a phone. She uses a Mahi Mahi cushion to help dampen sound when she records a podcast and her daughter shares amazing gems of wisdom relevant to us all.  I not only know what she does, I know who she is. This woman rocks!

Get expressive. I dare you. I want to get to know you. And yes I really am sticking my tongue out at you, I can be pretty goofy at times and love pulling faces 🤪
