Meditation

The word is out, meditation can help with stress, anxiety and depression and general state of mind. Meditation affects the brain and nervous system assisting in the activation of the parasympathetic system countering the modern lifestyle that has the lion share of us living in a constant state of stress activating our sympathetic nervous system. And there’s a bunch of research out to support what the eastern cultures have known for centuries.

..

There are many different types of meditation available and finding one that works for you can be trial and error.

..

For some people meditation is about clearing the mind. Not me! Tell that to my monkey mind, no chance…30 seconds in I’ve planned dinner, made a to do list, remembered something I forgot to do, written a blog post in my mind, created an event flow…ok, you get the picture…clearing my mind is not the meditation technique for me.

..

Meditation can also be about a mindfulness, following a journey or a single point of focus.

..

I love a guided meditation, something to follow and concentrate on or a breath meditation that brings me back to a point of focus when my mind wanders (and it’s totally ok that it wanders as long as I come back to my breath) and this can change depending on my mood.

..

I have created a simple guided breath awareness and body scan meditation for you to use as much as you like, for free. Whether you’re a beginner who finds the whole meditating thing overwhelming or you’re someone like me who when their brain is firing needs something to keep them focused. This meditation is under 10 minutes, simple to follow and has passed the verdict of busy professionals and school kids alike.

..

Give it a try.
