There is something special about social media and video that most people don't consider. There is an intimacy to it.
When you think about it, these day people are predominantly viewing your content on their smart devices and computers. You are in close quarters with them when they choose to watch or read. They have their devices physically close to them. Right now you're most likely holding your phone in your hand/s reading this. Even posting on social media is intimate.
It's not like a television that's on the other side of a room, instead the device is generally within arms length of them. When people watch they have invited you into their personal space, via their device, whether via your website, email, social media, streaming platform or some other means I haven't thought of, they've chosen to watch.
